Go Green For Katie Campaign

Katie and her family are our inspiration behind our Go Green For Katie Campaign. We started our campaign by launching a stunning Green Peridot-inspired gemstone Sterling Silver Necklace, and since then have expanded our range. With every purchase, money is donated back to Katie’s chosen charity. Katie is an exceptionally strong and brave young lady who takes on every day with a smile on her face. Katie said to us that “Cerebral Palsy makes me who I am. I think what it would be like to walk & eat like my sister & friends, but I know I wasn’t meant to be like everybody else, I was meant to be ME. This means the world to me – to have About.me Jewellery create a Go Green for Katie range; everyone can now have a piece of green jewellery that means Go Green for Katie.”

Cerebral Palsy is the name for a group of lifelong conditions that affect movement and coordination. It’s caused by a problem with the brain that develops before, during or soon after birth. Cerebral means having to do with the brain and Palsy means weakness or problems using muscles. Our beautifully stylish and tactile Green Peridot charm symbolises strength and combines beautifully with Katie’s approach to life.

Peridot is also associated with emotional healing and protection. It was once believed that green crystals, which were found in volcanic ash, were the tears of a volcanic goddess, and that when set inside something it helped protect the wearer from nightmares. It is the perfect fit for the Go Green for Katie campaign, to help raise money for Carers of West Dunbartonshire. Carers of West Dunbartonshire is an independent, voluntary organisation, managed by a voluntary Board of Directors who recognise how caring for someone can be very stressful.  Carers often have little help and regularly suffer financially, physically, and emotionally themselves. Their mission is to make a positive difference to the lives of carers, by providing a range of flexible services which will support carers with their role in the most positive, healthy, and knowledgeable manner.

When discussing the range with Clare, Katie’s Mum, we instantly knew this was a range we wanted to develop and help raise money for a charity of their choice. From Clare: “My heart nearly exploded when Hannah suggested this range to represent Katie & her Cerebral Palsy, knowing how much each year the support Katie gets from everyone who #GoGreenforKatie, this was just another massive part of Katie’s journey with her disabilities.”
